This renovation transformed a dated 1980s house into a timeless, functional, and deeply personal home. One that celebrates heritage while embracing modern living. Originally dated and somewhat lacking function, the house is now modernized, inviting, and thoughtfully crafted to support both everyday family life and large-scale entertaining.
The project posed a few significant challenges. Key structural walls needed careful removal and reinforcement to create a flowing layout without compromising the home’s integrity. Outdated mechanical systems including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC required customization to meet contemporary standards of the design. Each hurdle became an opportunity: innovative engineering and meticulous planning preserved the home’s character while enhancing comfort, efficiency, and durability.
The home also offered remarkable opportunities. Its original and distinctive custom built floor plan featured unexpected spatial connections and large windows that flooded interiors with natural light. These elements were amplified through design interventions, enhancing flow and creating purposeful zones for cooking, relaxing, and entertaining. Existing architectural features were reimagined and elevated, turning constraints into defining assets that reinforce the home’s personality. One such example is the old greenhouse room, converted into a quaint sitting area just off the kitchen.
From the outset, the homeowners sought a home that was both practical and inspiring. The design blends traditional architectural details like custom millwork, classic profiles, and layered textures with moments of modern luxury. Thoughtful lighting, rich materials, and bespoke finishes elevate each space while remaining approachable and family-friendly. The result is a curated, elegant home that feels intentional rather than contrived.
Durability and longevity were central considerations. Every surface, fabric, and fixture was selected to withstand the demands of active family life.
