As a fundamental member of our team and what makes our business successful, you will be responsible for initial project commencement with the Project Manager through demolition and finishing to project finalization. Your role will encompass a wide array of tasks and responsibilities dealing with residential and light commercial construction and renovation projects that are never the same twice. You will act as the face of Benjamin Matthew and as such, should always represent the business professionally and respectably whether dealing with clients, co-workers, sub-contractors, or suppliers. Your role is mostly construction labour oriented (~70%) and daily project supervision (~30%), for multiple (3-4) renovation/construction projects at a time.

- You will need to be able to lift 35lbs correctly and on a periodic basis.
- You will need to periodically climb ladders to access, analyze, and repair issues.
- Punctuality is a must to ensure project safety and project timelines with high demand clientele.
- Understand efficiency relating to manual tasks versus the use of equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring all details are correct and that plans are clearly communicated and approved prior to completing the plans.
- Ensure all tools, supplies and resources are on-site as needed and managed and maintained accordingly.
- Responsible for accurately completing any paperwork relating to project completion.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle and jobsite at all times.
Follow direction of Owner/Manager, Project Manager, and clients
- Responsible for completion of basic and complex tasks for each construction/repair/renovation project as required or requested by the Owner/Manager, Project Manager, and client(s).
- Responsible for communicating any materials and/or resources issues to the appropriate stakeholders prior to the start of each project.
- Responsible for following all direction, process and programs as it relates to the safe and proper work for al projects.
- Responsible to take all due care and attention to ensure that all equipment, materials, sites, and clients’ property are unaffected and undamaged during the scope of every project.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Average computer skills and experience.

Education & Experience
- Trade certification at the journeyman level (red seal preferred) in carpentry is a must.
- Trade certification at the journeyman level (red seal preferred) in another residential building trade will be considered; provided there is enough suitable experience and training on the job within the area of general renovation carpentry.
- 5-15 years of previous residential carpentry, finishing carpentry, renovation construction, and/or other trade experience within residential construction would be an asset.
- 3 or more years of client facing experience.
- Project management or coordination experience and/or training would be considered an asset.
- Structural framing experience is required.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
- Field environments, project jobsites, Monday to Friday, 8:00-5:00pm.
- Due to the project orientation of this position, additional and/or flexible hours may be required.
- Reliable transportation and valid drivers’ license for work is required.
- A satisfactory driving abstract will need to be presented for our files prior to employment.
- All employees are required to complete a pre-employment drug alcohol testing as well as a criminal background check.
